The lack of progress has frustrated civil rights leaders and activists who charge that the president isn’t taking the fight for voting rights seriously enough.

This is the second in a series of columns looking at Left strategy today. Key to Strategy #1 focused on the first component of Sun Tzu’s dictum that to prevail in battle it is necessary to “know the enemy and know yourself.”

Massive new projects have had significant benefits, but, in many cases, they have also divided existing communities, often in ways that exacerbated racial and class inequities.

The I-Hotel struggle helped to forge a unified Filipino community linking elderly immigrants from the early twentieth century and young people who were raising their consciousness of ethnic pride and their awareness of racial and class inequities.

At the end of the day Israel is a tool (and Palestine is terrain) of U.S. imperialism. We fight for the dignity and liberation of our people from here to our homelands. We need to be working to build power, not just support.
