The Long Shadow of White Nationalism
By Michelle H. Davis, Lone Star Left
The history of nearly every white Southern Congressman and Senator until the 1950s was nearly the same. And when they finally started to lose, when Lyndon Johnson, one of their own, betrayed them and signed the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act in 1964 and 1965, they didn’t give up. They reorganized.

Mothers are the everyday weavers of utopia. Philosophers, journalists, tech experts, Hollywood writers and pundits may throw up their hands and proclaim that our species is doomed, and yet in millions of homes around the world, mothers and caregivers are ensuring that on the contrary, we do live in a world of joy where resources are shared.
Students Defy Middle School Meshugas
TMJ4
Riverside Middle School in Watertown, Wisconsin, was placed on a “cautionary lock and hold” Friday during a planned student walkout protest over the Watertown school board’s decision to ban a song from the high school’s spring concert. Students had planned to walk out after a ban on “A Mother of a Revolution,” an instrumental piece that honors a transgender activist.

Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s 900-page presidential transition plan, represents perhaps the most explicit merging of Christian nationalist ideology with policy prescription in modern American history. We all became aware of this document in 2024. Sadly, many Democratic leaders did not take it seriously. So here we are.
Rift Over Israel in NYC Congressional Races
By Alex Kane, Jewish Currents
Jerry Nadler and Dan Goldman rep neighboring New York City congressional districts that are home to more Jews than virtually any other districts in the US. But the competitive Democratic primaries for both seats are starkly divergent. Last fall, Zohran Mamdani’s campaign was buoyed by the support of the Jewish left, even as older and wealthier Jews supported his opponent, Andrew Cuomo.
World-Outlook
At the University of Michigan 2026 commencement in Ann Arbor, history professor Derek Peterson delivered a speech in which he praised the “pro-Palestinian student activists, who have over these past two years opened our hearts to the injustice and inhumanity of Israel’s war in Gaza.” The backlash to the speech was predictably swift. But so was defense of his rights and his position.

Attorneys for 18 people caught up in last fall’s notorious raid submitted administrative complaints against the Department of Homeland Security, taking their first step toward suing the federal agencies involved in the operation.
The Missouri Town That Put its Foot Down
By Kavahn Mansouri, St Louis Public Radio
The promise of a political reckoning made by residents opposed to a $6 billion data center proposal in Festus came true Tuesday, as four city council members lost their reelection bids. The four council members who supported the development were ousted by four candidates who each ran on pro-transparency and anti-data center platforms.
Voting Rights — A Second ‘Redemption’?
By Aaron Jamal, The New Liberator
This attack on the Voting Rights Act is part of the strategy of the reigning regime of the New Confederacy to roll back the revolutionary victories of the post-Civil War First Reconstruction and the civil rights-era Second Reconstruction. The brutal backlash against the First Reconstruction was carried out by so-called “redeemers,” who strove to restore elite white minority rule.
