Will President Donald Trump, the self-styled “great builder,” authorize enough federal aid to rebuild Puerto Rico? Will Congress alleviate its crushing debt? To prevent a mass exodus of Puerto Ricans, the Trump White House and Republican-controlled Congress will have to act fast. Failure will drive an exodus of Puerto Ricans to the US.
Presidential action needed when 3.4 million Americans are living without electricity, 40% of them without potable water, and hundreds of thousands without shelter. When some 80% of its agricultural crops were wiped out. This is an apocalyptic scenario. We can't even know what is going on very much because there is no wifi most places. Some entire towns haven't been heard from! But this President tweets about football players who protest racism.
Hurricane Irma struck last week. Now, the people of Florida, of the Caribbean, of Cuba, they need your help and solidarity. Here are ways you can help rebuild Florida, help the frontline and people of color communities, help the Immokalee Farmworkers, who were amongst the hardest hit, and the poorest; and how you can help the Cuban people, whose doctors are out there helping others in the Caribbean. Please do what you can.
