The limits of BRICS

On Sunday, Germany’s socialist party Die Linke won the Berlin elections for the first time. Like New York’s Zohran Mamdani, it beat the establishment parties by offering Berliners concrete action on rents and the cost of living.

A quarter of Berlin residents will have no say in the German capital's city-state election because they lack citizenship. That's the highest proportion of residents excluded from the election yet, and many are unhappy.
