Mark Allen

Mark Allen has many years of experience in the fight for environmental justice, including as the founder and former convener of the Alameda County Healthy Homes Alliance, a coalition of organizations committed to addressing the adverse health impacts of substandard housing on low-income and minority populations in Oakland, Berkeley, Hayward and other cities in the Alameda County. Prior to this, he was director of the Alameda County Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.

Previously, he worked as the District Office Administrator for two members of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and as Executive Assistant to Berkeley Mayor Eugene Gus Newport.

He is the former Political Affairs and Foreign Affairs editor of the People’s World Newspaper, He was a Vietnam War Draft Resister and active in the struggle for peace, national independence and majority rule in Southern Africa, and against U.S. intervention in Central America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
