Dear Portside reader,

The tidal wave of bull dukey that accompanied this year's elections was more than matched by progressive analysis and advocacy . . . if you knew where to find it. The fact is that mass struggles impacted every aspect of life in the U.S. in 2012. We hope you found Portside a timely and reliable source of news, left analysis and advocacy not only for domestic issues by for historic events internationally.
Where do we get all this stuff?
The plucky little band here at Portside surfs the net every day for material, but many of the posts we feature each day are crowd sourced, shared with us by readers for other readers. We thank you for the thousands of articles, comments, responses to posts and insights you have sent us over the past year.
Your contributions strengthen and enrich Portside. Not every item sent in can be used, but your emails are read regularly by each of the moderators. You may submit via email at portside@portside.org or via the Web at http://www.portside.org/submittous3
Portside: no advertising, just one fundraising appeal per year.
---
We suspect your mail box is as full as ours asking for support for all kinds of campaigns, projects, programs and plans. Many of them are worthy of your support. One thing we promise you is that this is the one and only time you will hear from us asking for financial support this year. Portside is designed to operate efficiently, and with minimal overhead. Portside moderators receive no compensation other than the satisfaction of the work itself. Nevertheless, there are some expenses involved, such as maintaining our website and emailing our readers 365 days a year.
Major upgrades to our website and email server are in the final phase of development thanks to last year's donors. (Thanks again, last year's donors!) These improvements will make the sharing of our posts and stream with others much easier at a time when progressive alternatives are getting louder and clearer, and information-sharing on the left is even more urgently needed.
Support from our readers plays a key role in meeting those bills. If you find Portside a valuable resource, please make a contribution using our secure donation page at https://portside.org/donate ( you can make a one-time contribution or become a regular sustainer in whatever amount you are able to). If you would prefer to mail a contribution, please sent to the address at the bottom of this email.
Readers of Portside tell us they are constantly discovering new, valuable sources of information from us: we tell you exactly where we get each post, and if you want to reward those sources also we encourage you to do so.
Please don't keep us a secret, share Portside ---
New media has become a powerful means of mass mobilization. If you find Portside a valuable resource in that regard please invite friends, co- workers, neighbors and family to subscribe via the Web: http://www.portside.org/subscribe-and-unsubscribe or by email: portside@portside.org
Yours in the struggle,
