Portside
Portside readers have weighed in, as you often do, on the issue of Trump, Putin, Russia, the revival of a new-Cold War, and foreign interference in our electoral process. Here a number of readers, including some Portside moderators, express their individual views, on what they feel should be the position of the left, for democracy, and opposed to militarism, increases in the military budget, and re-vamped calls for a new-nuclear laden Cold War against Russia.

Underwhelming Intel Report Shows Need for Congressional Investigation of DNC Hack

Sam Biddle
The Intercept
In the spirit of the Warren Commission and the 9/11 Commission, we need an independent, resolute inquiry into an apparent attempt to undermine our democracy, as has already been proposed (with little support) by Reps Eric Swalwell and Elijah Cummings. The Public Evidence Russia Hacked the DNC

Sam Biddle
The Intercept
The U.S. routinely attempts to intercept the communications of heads of state. It’s possible that the CIA or the NSA has proof. Granted, these intelligence agencies will be loath to reveal any evidence that could compromise the method they used to gather it. In times of extraordinary risk, with two enormous military powers placed in direct conflict over national sovereignty, we need an extraordinary disclosure. The stakes are simply too high to take anyone’s word for it.
