On Dec. 18, New Zealand pop music sensation Lorde announced plans to play concerts in Israel and Russia. On Dec. 24, she announced the cancellation of her Israeli concert, which was scheduled for June 5 at the Tel Aviv Convention Centre. “I’m not too proud to admit I didn’t make the right call on this one,” she said in a statement.
Israel Publishes BDS Blacklist: These Are the 20 Groups Whose Members Will Be Denied Entry - and their responses (long)
Leaders and members from twenty organizations will be barred entry into Israel. This also further isolates Palestine, since entry to Palestine is via Israel. One group, AFSC said: Our response to the Palestinian BDS call is in line with our similar support for divestment from apartheid South Africa and boycotts during the civil rights era." Political Thought and Action to be Outlawed - U.S. Lawmakers Seek to Criminally Outlaw Support for Boycott Campaign Against Israel
The criminalization of political speech and activism against Israel has become one of the gravest threats to free speech. 43 senators — 29 Republicans and 14 Democrats — want to pass a law that would make it a felony for Americans to support the international boycott against Israel, which was launched in protest of the decades-old occupation of Palestine. The punishment: a minimum civil penalty of $250,000; a maximum criminal penalty of $1 million and 20 years in prison.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, signed an executive order essentially creating a blacklist of entities that boycott or divest from Israel or encourage others to do so, banning those companies from receiving taxpayer funding. The movement to boycott, divest from and sanction Israel, known as B.D.S., is a strategy intended to combat Israel's nearly 50-year occupation of the Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza, a situation akin to apartheid if allowed to continue.
