Lost in conversations about New York socialists’ charisma or social media prowess in recent electoral victories is something simple: boots on the ground. New York City DSA mobilized thousands of volunteers and is poised to do so again in the future.

With a much larger population than previously, with a larger youth population, the erosion of vast numbers of voters throughout the country is cause for alarm – for voting rights and for democracy and warrants further study and exploration.

"Beliefs are not fixed," said Eboni Taggart, training manager at the Deep Canvass Institute. "We don't want to write people off as unreachable. I think there's a real danger in that."
