"We are here to deliver a policy that saves and improves lives," Uncommitted National Movement co-founder Abbas Alawieh said in opening remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the DNC.

The law in question has been on the books for more than a decade. It prohibits the United States from assisting any unit of a foreign security force that commits “gross violations” of human rights. But it has never been applied to Israel.

It's not just a few hecklers, Michigan voters' concerns cannot be ignored. How can Democrats speak of the importance of freedom — while turning a blind eye to the imprisonment of Palestinian civilians in a strip of land that has become a living hell?

Past solidarity movements teach us that organization is just as important as mobilization. For Palestine solidarity activists it could be useful to look more deeply at the history of international solidarity, particularly in the last three decades.
