Flight attendants from United, Alaska, American, Southwest and other airlines picketed at major airports on Tuesday. Flight attendant unions are seeking pay increases and compensation for work during boarding.
Before the holiday travel nightmare, attorneys general begged the Transportation Secretary and Congress to crack down. "The Department of Transportation has yet to fine any airline a single dollar!"
"The airline industry is a special case. Airline workers have a lot of leverage because of their role connected with safety," said Lance Compa, a senior lecturer in labor law at Cornell University.
