Information is power. Our mission at Portside is to seek out and to provide information that empowers you -- that empowers the left. Every day we search hundreds of sources to connect you with the most interesting, striking and useful material. Just once a year we appeal to you to contribute to make it possible to continue this work. Please help.

labor Once a Year We Ask Our Readers for Their Support - Now is That Time

We can move our country forward. The Resistance and the recent elections are dramatic evidence that something fundamental is happening. Portside will continue to do our part. Once a year we ask our readers to help. Now is that time.

Dear Portside Labor Reader,

Movements that are powered from the grassroots work. Movements that rely on conviction and solidarity and inclusion are more powerful than PACs and fear-mongering and falsehoods. We can move our country forward by moving it to the left. At Portside, we believe these things and we believe that the Resistance of the last two years and the gains in the recent elections are dramatic evidence that they are true.

As you probably know, we moderators of Portside work on an entirely volunteer basis. We work with the same motivation that powers the grassroots of every movement for radical change. We're a movement project, with no ties to corporate money - or any party or organization, for that matter. It’s you and us.

We pledge to keep doing what we've been doing. We ask you to help us by donating to keep our servers running and our website current.

We expect the new Congress will be a battleground. Pressure and mobilization from the left will be a factor in determining whether Trump will be defeated in 2020 - or even ousted before the next election.

And for the left’s influence to grow, it needs to be kept informed. To debate strategy. To hold up a vision for a better planet.

Portside will continue to spread the reportage that gets little play, or is buried in spin. Your support makes it possible.

We hope you keep up with our posts every day, covering news, politics, culture, labor and much more. Check out our new features, like the Global Left post that now appears every Wednesday.

We've been providing the Portside service for 18 years now and we are delighted with the thousands of new readers who've joined us, the new media technologies we've been able to deploy and the additional moderators who are dedicated to serving as your eyes and ears, searching the Internet for valuable materials. (We welcome reader suggestions for possible posts, reactions and comments on Portside posts, announcements and resources to share with other readers. Keep sending these to either portside@portside.org or reader comments.)

So please remember us this year. We promise to make every donation go a long way toward the future we seek together. We only ask readers for their support once a year. If you like what we do, this is the time to support Portside.

Yours in struggle,

The entire Portside crew
