Bob Dylan was born in Minnesota in 1941. In 1960 he dropped out of college and moved to New York, where he met his idol Woody Guthrie. Except for a seven-year hiatus resulting from a motorcycle accident, he has been recording and touring for the last 66 years. In 2016 he received the Nobel Prize in Literature "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".
