After two months of strikes, workers at the largest hotel company in the world have won their biggest demands and set a new pattern for the hospitality industry.
The union, Unite Here Local 26, declined to release details of the agreement until the remaining 5,000 Marriott workers who are on strike in San Francisco and two locations in Hawaii settle their contracts.
Gov. David Ige and Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell told striking hotel workers Monday during a meeting at the state Capitol that they would not cross the picket line and have urged their hotel managers and owners to resume bargaining.
