Their Feet Cross the Threshold

and you consent

to record the arrivals

and departures

despite your apprehensions.

You wish to keep your house

from harm & waste.

Their feet

cross the threshold

you mean to shield

your home

from losses they carry.

 

The threshold is at the door

is on the stairs

is in the room

you try to protect

what is yours until

you see you are one of them

seeking refuge

quartered on the face

of this earth

in time of peace

and in time of war.
