poetry Allentown

Songwriter Billy Joel takes us to the scene of the crime, an economic crime perpetrated on the people of Allentown, PA.

Allentown comes from Billy Joel’s 1982 album, the Nylon Curtain, which in addition to Allentown included another highly political song, Goodnight, Saigon. Joel spent more time in the studio than with earlier albums; he wanted “to create a sonic masterpiece.” The Nylon Curtain was nominated for an Album of the Year Grammy.
