It strains credulity to think that a US war with Russia would make the American people safer or more prosperous. To the contrary, going to war with Russia, a nuclear peer of the United States, would expose Americans to vast and unnecessary risks.

A propaganda campaign using Russian TicTok influencers features the themes of “Russian Lives Matter,” the Z Dance and Real Women glamorizes the invasion of Ukraine.

Even when human solidarity in the West is justly expressed with Ukraine, we cannot overlook its racist context. Official empathy is nowhere to be found when violence is directed against non-Europeans, in general, towards Palestinians, in particular.

The war continues — as the fight for democracy and equality deepens and broadens

Putin's invasion of Ukraine is not an isolated event. It's part of a broader attack against democracy that echoes events of the twentieth century.

The war is shaped by global neoliberalism, sexism, and racism—not just Cold War dynamics. Only by understanding Eastern Europe beyond the old dichotomies of the free West versus the authoritarian East can we begin to grasp the war’s significance.
