Conservatives Benefit from Reduced Media Coverage of Statehouses

According to a recent report by the Pew Research Center, the number of full-time reporters covering state politics for daily newspapers has declined by 35% since 2003, most dramatically in the South. The "nontraditional" news sources that have sought to fill this vacuum in state political coverage are dominated by conservative organizations and their websites. The Franklin Center for Government & Public Integrity owns 14 of these 33 "ideological websites."
