The Great shares a broadly similar style and subject with The Favorite, though it is neither as dark nor as committed to factual accuracy. The series shows the grotesque royal court life of Empress Catherine II of Russia, aka Catherine the Great.
A generous reading might consider the show a corrective to the original, particularly because women, people of color, and queer folks now work the stacks at Championship Vinyl. A more skeptical take is that even this is morally suspect.

Enduring Season 2 of the Hulu series proves even harder than expected. The series is beautifully shot, acted, and directed by women, despite the fact that the showrunner is a white man, but the actual story leaves much emotional relief to be desired in this political climate.
The system that the Hulu series operates within shows there were laws to protect property, but not women and certainly not sex workers.
