Slavery is the usual argument for reparations. But there’s another reason.

To me, there’s never been a more clear-cut case for reparations than that of Haiti.

Compensating African Americans for the wrongs of history has been a political nonstarter for decades. Then, last November, one Chicago suburb made it a reality.

Conyers fought for gun control, anti-poverty programs and universal health care. He held hearings to spotlight police misconduct and also supported legislation urging a study of the possibility of offering reparations to the descendants of slaves.
