"The University of Missouri System has chosen to take the hard route, and we are willing to do it that way," said Senff to the Maneater. "We want to be able to enact our constitutional rights. A collectively bargained contract is the only thing that will make us feel secure in our position at the university."
Fifty years ago, young people inspired and moved our whole country away from Jim Crow, war and McCarthyism in the 60s. Today a new generation of young activists are inspiring and moving our country. Today's youth are active for justice, jobs, immigrant rights, against police murder and racism, peace, and are revitalizing the labor movement. Just this week, from Missouri to the Fight for $15 actions, young people are again inspiring a generation and the whole country.
Here is the list of demands drawn up by the Legion of Black Collegians and those in alliance with them. The protest at the University of Missouri which included weeks of demonstrations, the threatened strike by black football players, and a hunger strike by a student on the campus of the University of Missouri led to the resignation of the President, Tim Wolf, and also the Columbia campus chancellor Bowen Loftin.
