The second season of The White Lotus, HBO’s propulsive satire, had sex on the brain more than anything else. But it never lost sight of the razor-sharp class critique that also animated season one.
HBO’s brilliant The White Lotus reminds us that class society permeates everywhere, even on a tropical island — something that US television traditionally does its best to hide.
It's hard to say a story is a blistering indictment of privilege without making it seem medicinal, which The White Lotus is not.
