Palestinian Leaders Issue Joint Statement in China

Affirming the right of the Palestinian people to resist Israeli occupation, representatives of 14 Palestinian factions have signed an agreement to end their divisions and form a temporary government of national unity. The factions include Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Fatah.

The Venezuelan Election

Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Venezuela to protest against what they say is President Nicolas Maduro’s fraudulent election win. Maduro, who secured a third six-year term as president, denounced an attempt “to impose a coup d’etat” in the country.

In Nigeria, The protests, organized mainly by young people, have gained support on social media through the hashtags "EndBadGovernanceinNigeria" and "RevolutionNow."

Save the Life of Sharifeh Mohammadi

Front Line Defenders (Dublin)

On 4 July 2024, Sharifeh Mohammadi and her lawyer were handed a death sentence on the charge of “membership in a group with the intention of overthrowing the state of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Mohammadi is a woman human rights defender, and an advocate for women’s rights and labour rights. She was a member of the Coordination Committee to Aid the Formation of Labor Unions in Iran.
