The goal of The Plot Against America isn’t to overwhelm audience members with suffering, or to shock us into action; instead, its aim is to remind us of our shared humanity and how essential it is for us to be vigilant against hatred of all kinds.

Twenties has a lot of potential, thanks in part to its diverse group of Black women. The stories are significant, addressing sexuality, racism, colorism, sexism, workplace drama, and ultimately, Black hope. But representation alone isn’t enough.

Queen Sono will gain attention for being Netflix’s first African original series. It deserves attention for breaking barriers in Netflix’s programming examining everything from Black female independence to the impact of white colonialism on Africa.

Gentefied is both a celebration of a modern Mexican American family and also the story about their struggle against the ever-present threat of erasure.

A generous reading might consider the show a corrective to the original, particularly because women, people of color, and queer folks now work the stacks at Championship Vinyl. A more skeptical take is that even this is morally suspect.

There are a lot of science-fiction utopias and a lot of science-fiction dystopias, but "Avenue 5" perhaps offers the bleakest vision.

This episode does an amazing job of showing divide-and-conquer and the absurd lengths to which bosses will go to avoid treating workers with dignity.

Bearing in mind the statistics that confirm the stigma surrounding mental health among black and Asian communities, it wouldn’t be too much of a jump to make the correlation between ethnic minorities successfully seeking help for mental health.
