Presidents have thought before that they could roll those wimpy-looking nerds with their gavels and robes. It usually doesn’t work out all that well.

Trump evokes America’s sins not to challenge them, but to apologize for those of the Russian president and, preemptively, his own. But to insist that the United States is, in fact, on a higher moral plane than Russia serves to legitimize our government’s crimes.

Donald Trump's draconian immigration enforcement efforts face a basic challenge: the United States operates within an economic system that profits off immigrant labor. Immigrant labor is more vital to many industries than it's ever been before. Today, about 57% of the country's entire agricultural workforce is undocumented. But the list of other industries dependent on immigrant labor is long.
