Many countries have announced measures to cut imports of fuel and energy from Russia. But international resolve to cripple Russia’s revenue streams will not translate into comprehensive strategies for phasing out fossil fuels on its own.
"Taken together, these actions will have an immediate and meaningful impact on people's lives," said Rep. Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
"A renewable energy future," the groups wrote, "is a peaceful and ultimately more prosperous one."
"We can't let the fossil fuel industry scare us into a domestic drilling free-for-all that is neither economically warranted nor environmentally sound," said the U.S. congressman.
