New Voices for Peace by Jews in Gaza, and in the Jewish Daily Forward

Julia Chaitin; J.J. Goldberg
Plea for peace from Julia Chaitin, a kibbutzim who teaches in Israel, and lives near Gaza. She and some Israelis are challenging the endless hatred and violence practiced by both sides. She is joined by some Palestinians. Together they care for each other, that there is a way forward around the violence. J.J. Goldberg, writing in the Jewish Daily Forward charges that the Israeli Gaza onslaught is built on lies, and the heavier responsibility lies on Netanyahu government.

Cultures of Hate and Israeli Vengeance

Jonathan Cook Common Dreams
Shock and anger have engulfed Israeli and Palestinian societies since they learnt last week of the barbarous murder of children from their communities. Hours after three Israeli teenagers’ bodies were located, a Palestinian youth, Mohammed Abu Khdeir, was kidnapped, beaten and burnt to death, apparently as revenge. These horrifying events should serve as a lesson in the obscene futility of vengeance. Sadly, that was not the message implicit in much of last week’s coverage

Even when change is still necessary, even when injustice still continues, there can be an upward spiral, growing from past transformations into future ones.

Blacklisted by the `Jewish Community' over Israel, the Shondes Take their Stand

Elijah Oberman and Louisa Rachel Solomon Tikkun
On March 28 Brooklyn rock band The Shondes were disinvited from the Washington Jewish Music Festival, at which they were scheduled to perform on June 2, due to band members' views on Israel and Palestine. Jewish groups are now asking artists: "On behalf of the Jewish people, are you now or have you ever been a signatory to a boycott of Israel?" Shondes members, singer Louisa Rachel Solomon and violinist Elijah Oberman, wrote this open letter in response.
