After two months of strikes, workers at the largest hotel company in the world have won their biggest demands and set a new pattern for the hospitality industry.
In November, workers staged a walkout against sexual harassment in another industry rife with it. In a watershed moment for tech, more than 20,000 Google employees worldwide—over 20 percent of the company’s total workforce—walked off the job.
For the first time in recent memory workers in multiple Chicago hotels have walked off the job at the same time, and it appears to have taken management by surprise.
