This is a not an election to allow self-righteous ideological purity to obfuscate the need for a huge political uprising to block Trump from securing a potentially disastrous second term.

It’s well past time to bury the 'Bernie is unelectable' trope. He has a better shot than moderate Bloomberg. His campaign resonates with the growing realization of how unmoored the American capitalist system is from any sense of ethics or morality.

Many in the more progressive wing of the party have been criticizing her positions on climate change and broader environmental concerns, as well as her stances on economic inequality, social welfare and the criminal legal system.

Iowa and New Hampshire were big wins for Bernie, but in neither state did his vote total reach 30%. Bernie will have to substantially expand his base if he is going to capture the nomination, not to mention succeed in beating Trump in November.

Whether a Democrat beats Trump or not, we are going to need a movement of people who recognize their common interests, and join together to fight for them. It’s the only way we will save what’s left of our planet, our civil society, and ourselves.
