From Debs to Sanders to Ocasio-Cortez, an ideal persists. If Sanders actually makes it to the White House, then he’ll be able to continue this work from the summit of American politics. If he doesn’t, then unlike Debs, he’ll have a natural successor.

The government-promoted plans let employers completely off the hook and put the entire burden of retirement savings and investment management on workers. They put another nail in the coffin of traditional plans in which employers share the expense.
At the debates, Sanders and Warren have stood shoulder to shoulder, defending Medicare for All from tepid centrists. The two are longtime political allies. It's time for their supporters to do the same, and not get baited into flame wars.
