Should anti-capitalists urge a vote for Joe Biden to defeat Donald Trump in November 2020 or not?

A few weeks ago, we had a democratic-socialist presidential campaign with several million donors and over a thousand-person staff. Today, we have no mass organization to carry on the struggle. We can change that - but only with Bernie's help.

Iowa and New Hampshire were big wins for Bernie, but in neither state did his vote total reach 30%. Bernie will have to substantially expand his base if he is going to capture the nomination, not to mention succeed in beating Trump in November.

U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis recently made the Trump administration’s first overseas trip. His destination: South Korea and Japan. In South Korea, Mattis’ first stop, women demanding genuine human security are at the forefront of the resistance.

Anti-war, immigrant rights and communities of color, environmental rights, LGBTQ and women's rights -- all and more are linked to real justice and peace.

Instead of demonstrating outside of Planned Parenthood, Joyce Arthur, executive director of Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC), suggests demonstrating outside a "crisis pregnancy center" -- one of the fake clinics run by ideologically extreme religious groups -- or at the office of a local anti-choice group. Also on her list are public areas like city hall.

Until 2006, almost no one knew of Dorothea Lange's photographs of the Japanese internment. These were also commissioned by the federal government, but had never been published as a collection, and approximately 97 percent of them have never been published at all.1 Their neglect resulted from US Army censorship: once the brass saw the photographs, they quickly impounded them for the duration of the war, and afterward placed them in the National Archives.2

In this roiling environment, it may seem that debate over “identity politics” is of relatively little consequence. But it is, in fact, central to how the Democratic Party and progressives approach 2018 and 2020, and to whether and how the party regroups to become an effective shield against the far-right onslaught. It is of enormous importance to a left that must focus its influence on shaping the political frameworks and strategies most capable of defeating Trumpism.
